Senior Citizens Lunch - 15th February

Our first event of the year was the Senior Citizens Lunch which was held on 15th February 2017.  It was a very busy but really enjoyable day and we were delighted to welcome approximately 90 people to Tewin Memorial Hall. Our senior guests sat down to enjoy a lunch of either coq au vin or salmon, followed by a dessert of lemon flan or pineapple upside-down pudding.

After lunch we were delighted to welcome a local lady, singer Aimi Percival, everyone enjoyed listening to her very much.  We followed this with a quiz to round off the afternoon.

We also delivered 5 meals to the homes of people who weren’t able to attend.

We had some very kind comments from people telling us what a great afternoon they had and we were pleased it was such a success; it makes all the planning even more worthwhile.

Once again we had many people to help which made a big difference and we were able to serve the food while it was still nice and hot.  We want to thank everyone who helped to set up the Hall, serve the lunch, wash up the mountain of dishes and also deliver the meals.  We couldn’t have managed without you.

Dancing around the Maypole  - 28th April

We were thrilled when the sun shone down on us for the Maypole Dancing.  Besides the sunshine, it was also a very calm day so the children easily completed all the dances they had been practising so hard.  It is lovely to see the children of Tewin Cowper School perform their dances and our thanks go to their teachers for helping them learn the intricate moves involved.  We had quite a crowd of people who came to watch the dancing, enjoy the sunshine and chat to their friends.

Annual Coach Trip - Maidenhead and Windsor - 15th June

We had a lovely day for our coach trip.  We left the coach at Maidenhead and boarded the river boat that took us along the Thames into Windsor.  Enroute we passed some beautiful riverside homes and enjoyed the lovely scenery along the river bank.  We hope those of you who went had a lovely day out and enjoyed the afternoon exploring Windsor.

Tewin Classic Car & Craft Show - 20th August

We had perfect weather, not too hot, not too cold and Upper Green was completely full with classic cars, bikes, craft stalls and food stalls. It looked fantastic! We had a record number of classic car entries to the show and we also had a record number of visitors, Upper Green was a very lively place!  This event is our big fundraiser and amazingly we managed to raise around £8,000.

I want to thank everyone who helped us to achieve this wonderful amount. We had about 100 people who helped on the day and many others who baked cakes for us. Thank you one and all, for being such a huge part of the show, we could not manage without you!

Scarecrow Weekend – 16/17th September

We had 45 scarecrows on display and what an amazing sight they were!  We had lots of visitors walking round Tewin during the weekend and although we weren’t blessed with fine weather the whole time, the scarecrows made a wonderful spectacle, even if a few looked a bit damp by Sunday night!  We had lots of activities for children in the Pavilion on Upper Green where we also had refreshments on sale throughout the weekend.

This year’s entries were the best we have had and you can find lots of photographs on this website by clicking on "The Village/photos and videos".  We want to thank everyone who entered the competition, this event couldn’t happen without you.

Carols around the Christmas Tree - 14th December

We held our annual Carols around the Christmas Tree on 14th December on a very cold but clear night. It was lovely to see so many villagers come along to sing and of course to see Father Christmas. Many thanks to those of you who made mince pies, they were much enjoyed together with the mulled wine and hot chocolate. Members of St Peters Church sold raffle tickets and together with donations they raised £184.15 which will be donated to Shelter
