SENIOR CITIZENS' LUNCH - 17th FEBRUARY

Our first event of the year was held in Tewin Memorial Hall on 17th February 2016.  We had a very enjoyable day, this event is more popular than ever!  We welcomed 96 people and our guests sat down to enjoy a lunch of either roast lamb or salmon, followed by a dessert of chocolate roulade or apple crumble.  We also delivered 8 meals to the homes of people who were unable to attend.

After lunch everyone joined in with a quiz which got the brain cells working and increased the noise levels!!  It  was a lot of fun.

We have had some very kind comments from people telling us what a great afternoon they had, which makes all the planning worthwhile.

We had more helpers this year which really helped to serve the food while it was still hot.  We thank everyone who helped to set up the Hall, serve the lunch, wash up the mountain of dishes and also deliver the meals.  We couldn’t have managed without you.

MAYPOLE DANCING - 29th April

It was a very windy day this year and the children from Tewin Cowper School did amazingly well to hold on to the ribbons on the Maypole!  Dispite the wind, the children still managed to perform the dances they had learned.  All the children from the school came to watch, as did the younger children from Tewin Under 5's Nursery and Tewin Tots. It is a lovely village activity and long may it continue.

ANNUAL COACH TRIP - 21st JUNE

This year the destination for our summer day trip was Hastings and Rye in Sussex.  We were very lucky that the weather stayed fine and many of us enjoyed fish and chips lunch by the seaside!  After lunch we moved on to Rye for a couple of hours to look around this pretty village.  It really was a grand day out!

TEWIN CLASSIC CAR & CRAFT SHOW - 21st AUGUST

We had a fantastic day, the weather was perfect which probably helped in making the day such a success.  We had a record number of Classic Cars, we estimate about 350 were on display on Upper Green.  We also had a record number of visitors to the show, it was a wonderful to see so many people enjoying looking at the amazing cars that were on show.  The Craft stalls were as popular as ever with a wide variety of goods on offer.

The Classic Car & Craft Show is the biggest annual event we organise and we are delighted that this year we raised a record sum of just over £8,000.  This money will be distributed to groups and organisations in Tewin.

CAROLS AROUND THE CHRISTMAS TREE -19th December

This was our last event for 2016 and it’s one of our favourites!

It was wonderful to see so many of you joining us at the carols event on 19th December particularly as we were all shocked and saddened to see our previous tree destroyed just after the lights had been switched on at the beginning of December. We have been overwhelmed by the support we have had from everyone in order to replace the tree and we were most grateful to the school for offering to lend us their tree for the event as well as the collection set up in the village shop. We were delighted when one of our villagers, Vijay Mallya, offered to donate a new tree which meant the collection from the shop could be used to purchase new lights, which I think you will agree made the new tree more beautiful than ever. Thanks again for all your good will and also for buying raffle tickets at the event. The proceeds of the raffle, organised by St Peters Church, have been donated to Shelter.

We were also pleased that our regular brass band came along and played as we sang some of our favourite Carols and Christmas songs.

We served lots of Hot Chocolate, Mulled Wine, Mince Pies and cakes, definitely needed to help keep the winter chills at bay!
