SENIOR CITIZENS LUNCH - 19th February 2014

We were delighted to welcome 80 people to the Memorial Hall on 19th February.  We also delivered 5 meals to the homes of those who were unable to attend.

A team of approximately 25 people served our guests a two course lunch of roast pork with all the trimmings or salmon with a cheese and herb crust.  We served a choice of dessert, all washed down with wine or juice!  We followed lunch with a quiz which tested everyone’s knowledge of Tewin, great fun!  Raffle prizes were handed out and judging by the chattering and laughter, everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves!

Friends of Tewin want to say a big thank you to all our extra “friends” who helped to give our Seniors such a great afternoon.

We were lucky that the weather stayed dry and the children delighted us with some wonderful dancing.  It was a blustery morning and how the children managed to keep hold of the ribbons is a mystery!  They performed 6 traditional dances for us and must have practised very hard, they were excellent.  The whole school came on the Lower Green to watch the dancing and our thanks go to the children and Staff at Tewin Cowper School.

ANNUAL COACH TRIP - 10th June 2014

We had a wonderful day, the sun was shining as we set off from the Rose and Crown and was shining in Southwold when we arrived!  After the coach dropped us off, some headed into the town to search out the shops and places to eat.  The rest of the party headed for the Pier and a walk by the sea.  Southwold is a lovely little seaside town and made a wonderful destination for our day out!

Most of you will know that the Car Show is the biggest fundraising event we organise each year.  This year's show was on 17th August and it was held on Upper Green.  The show started at 12 noon and by around 2pm we had approximately 300 cars on display.  We also had 40 craft stalls selling a wide range of hand made crafts and goods. We also had some dancers from Jiveswing perform the Lindy Hop to entertain the crowds of people who came.  If you were among those crowds we hope you enjoyed looking at the wonderful classic cars, buying something from the craft stalls and had time to sample the tasty refreshments that were on sale.

We want to thank everyone who helped us to organise the car show, we had a small army of volunteers, we couldn't have done it without you!  Well Done!

We also want to thank everyone who came to support us and we're delighted to tell you that we raised the amazing sum of £5619.00!  The money raised will be donated to groups and organisations in the village.

CAROLS ON THE GREEN - 18 December 2014

This is a firm favourite with residents, especially the young children who look forward to the visit from Father Christmas, he and Mrs Christmas travel down Upper Green Road on a trailor pulled by a tractor, much to the children's delight!

We are very lucky to have a brass band accompany us while we sing Christmas Carols and this year the choir from Tewin Cowper School came to sing for us and they opened the event with their beautiful singing.  We had a huge crowd of people turn up on the Lower Green to enjoy mince pies and mulled wine, hot chocolate and cupcakes.  We had a great atmosphere and it was a wonderful way to start our Christmas celebrations!

The Christmas tree, bought by Friends of Tewin in 2013, looked wonderful.  It continues to grow and looked really pretty lit up for the festive season.
