Autumn Show 2022

Congratulations to all the exhibitors at the Autumn Show!

This 20th annual Autumn Show proved to be a great success thanks to the 140 exhibitors, who entered 316 exhibits. These numbers are higher than those of the autumn show in 2021 and it was encouraging to see the increased level of support.

The displays of exhibits were attractive and were enjoyed by the numerous visitors in the afternoon. When it came to the presentation of the prizes, the adult trophy winners were Judy Puddefoot for Flower Arranging, Michael Clark for Flowers and for Vegetables & Fruit, Jim Hall for Arts & Crafts, Janet Gordon for Photography and Hilary Tipping for Culinary. The Shire Park Bowling Club President’s Shield for horticulture was won by Michael Clark, who also won the RHS Banksian Medal.

The Tewin Cowper School Parents’ Association Award is usually presented to the exhibitor with the highest number of points in the children’s classes for horticulture, arts & crafts and culinary. This time, the competition resulted in a tie for first place and the joint winners were sisters Evie & Izabella Florez. Unfortunately, there were no entries in the children’s photography class, so the George Humble Crawford Award for Children’s Photography was not awarded. A full list of all the prize-winners is shown below. Photographs of the show can be seen HERE, including the five winning images from the adult photography class.

Autumn Show 2022

Many thanks to everyone who helped at the show: -

  • The staff, helpers and children at Tewin Cowper School and at the Tewin Under-Fives Pre-school group, who have been very enthusiastic and supportive
  • The judges, who give their time and expertise freely
  • The Judges’ Stewards, who helped the judges and recorded the results
  • Linda Crawford and the team of volunteers for lunch for the judges, refreshments in the afternoon and washing up
  • Jim Hall for taking the photographs of the prizegiving
  • The committee, who worked so hard to make the show a success
  • All the helpers behind the scenes, setting up and clearing the hall, making cakes for the afternoon refreshments.
  • All the exhibitors, without whom there would be no show!

The show could not have happened without this incredible support, so do please remember that your help is greatly appreciated and never taken for granted. Thank you all very much!

This was my last show as Show Secretary, but there is no replacement in sight, so this may be the last THACS show. If you would like these shows to continue, then please consider joining the committee and help to organise and run future shows. You will be given a warm welcome into a friendly and supportive group.

We also need a new Chairman, Secretary and Treasurer, so you have plenty of scope to find a role to suit you. To find out more, please contact me or any committee member.
