KITCHEN/BAR

After a complete refurbishment during the autumn of 2011, the kitchen and bar areas now have modern attractive facilities including bottle cooler cabinets, a large fridge, a freezer and bright eco friendly lighting. The dual fuel range cooker is a great improvement as is additional storage areas and work surfaces.

We are very grateful for financial support from Friends of Tewin, THACS, The History Book Group, Tewin Parish Council, East Herts District Council, Biffaward and of course all those who support our projects through their time and generosity.

 SCOUT HUT

The scout hut which has served the Brownies and Under Fives for many years sprung a leak in the roof early in 2011 and it was decided to replace the roof rather than try and repair it. After a successful grant application from The Big Lottery Fund, the roof was replaced during the summer of 2011. The additional upgraded roof insulation has enabled our electricity use there to be substantially reduced.

 MAIN HALL

The old central heating system in the main building has been removed and replaced by efficient gas boilers and some new radiators. Control of the system is by an in- house designed computer program which is currently 'learning' to keep the Hall warm and at the same time maximise efficiency and economy. Much of this work was carried out by volunteers which has saved a considerable sum.
