Welcome to 'Screen On The Green' Tewin
It's September already, which means the start of a new season of our village film club with a varied selection of films old and new.
We kick off on Monday 21st September with The Choral (2025), a British comedy-drama starring Ralph Fiennes. It was dircted by Nicholas Hytner with screenplay by Alan Bennett.
Set in Yorkshire in World War I, The Choral follows a local singing society depleted of its male members due to wartime enlistment. Determined to keep their annual performance alive, the committee recruits a group of disparate teenagers. They hire the demanding, uncompromising Dr Henry Guthrie as their new choir master, despite suspicions regarding his past in Germany. Together, the community finds solace and unity through music, amidst the lingering shadow of impending conscription.
Looking forward to seeing you there.
Here's the programme for the rest of the year so put these dates in the calendar now.
19th October My Favourite Cake (2004)
16th November The Apartment (1960)
