Welcome to 'Screen On The Green' Tewin

We start the year on Monday 20th January with "Dirty Dancing" (1987), a romantic/drama/dance movie starring Ptrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey.

Set in the 1960s, it follows teenager Frances (known as "Baby" as she takes a smmer holiday with her family at an up-market resort in the Catskill Mountains where she falls in love with Johnny, one of the dance instructors.  The film highlights tensions between the weatlthy guests and the working class staff.  The climax comes with the iconic dance routine to the song "The Time of my Life" which won an Academy Award for Best Original Song.

"Dirty Dancing" was a box office hit earning $214 million from a $4.5 million budget and inspired many other productions including stage adaptations, competition shows and enduring pop culture references.

The ticket price of Film club has remained the same since it began in 2012.  But times move on and from this month the price will be £5, which still represents great value for money and will make things easier for the ticket seller.
