Welcome to 'Screen On The Green' Tewin

On Monday 20th April we are showing The Graduate, (1967), a romantic comedy/drama starring Dustin Hoffman, Anne Bancroft and Katherine Ross.  Directed by Mike Nichols, it was one of the most successful and memorable films of the 1960s

Hoffman became a star with his portrayal of Benjamin, a recent college graduate who returns home to his family in California feeling confused and unclear about his future life and career.  He attracts the attention of the wife of one of his father's business partners - the famous Mrs Robinson - with the inevitable seduction.  It's a snapshot of the rapid cultural change that ocurrred in mid-1960s suburbia and an iconic film for baby boomers.

It's a treat for Simon and Garfunkel fans - the sound track features several of their best-known songs, notably Mrs Robinson, The Sounds of Silence and Strawberry Fair.  The Graduate received seven Oscar nominations with a win for Best Director.
