THACS IN CRISIS, Extraordinary General Meeting
Friday 04 November 2022
19:30 to 21:30
For twenty years THACS has contributed to Tewin life. As well as the traditional Spring and Autumn Shows, THACS has organised outings to beautiful gardens, talks, workshops on various arts and crafts, Open Gardens and Plant Exchanges, as well as supporting gardening at the village school. Sadly, this may now come to an end.
Several committee members, including the Chairman, Secretary, and Treasurer, intend to stand down at the AGM next year. We are already without a Vice Chairman. We urgently need to recruit some more enthusiastic and able people to join the committee and continue the society’s work.
A previous appeal led to the recruitment of two new people, who are bringing energy and fresh ideas to the committee. There are also two experienced committee members who are happy to continue in their current roles, so we are assured of at least four committee members who are willing stand for re-election at the AGM in February 2023. However, the society will not be able to function, at least in its present form, unless we can fill the positions of Chairman, Secretary, and Treasurer. If you would be interested in joining the committee, or can suggest someone who might, please let me know as a matter of urgency.
In the light of the difficulty facing THACS, we are calling an Extraordinary General Meeting on Friday 4th November in Tewin Memorial Hall. If you live in Tewin and are interested in gardening, flower arranging, painting and drawing, handicrafts, photography, or baking, then please come along to the meeting to explore ways of saving THACS. All are invited, whether or not a current member of THACS. Come along for a glass of wine, soft drinks and nibbles at 7:30pm before the meeting starts at 8:00pm.
