Welcome to
In Febuary this year we held the annual Senior’s lunch and our AGM - more details in the Spring Newsletter 2025.
Here is our Spring 2025 Newsletter which you may like to read. Newsletter Spring 2025
On Friday 2nd May, we helped to stage traditional dancing around the Maypole on Lower Green, by the children of Tewin Cowper Primary School. The morning was bright and sunny and the children danced beautifully.
On Monday 5th May we organised a Spring Picnic to commemorate VE Day 80th Anniversary. The afternoon started quite cold but very soon, the sun shone and a great afternoon was had by all. We had face-painting for the children, lots of traditional fun races for children and adults joined in too. And of course, lots of our famous home-made cakes!
We are pleased to list the most recent donations made by Friends of Tewin to groups/organisations in the village. All donations are made possible by the profit from the Classic Car & Craft Shows. Here is the list: Donations made in 2024 & 2025.
On Sunday 17th August, we were blessed with a beautiful August day and Upper Green was filled with around 500 Classic Cars and over 40 Craft Stalls. The public didn’t disappoint us, they came in their droves.
We were delighted to have Kevin of Wings of Welwyn as our Sponsor with his special cars.
Our local food outlets were busy too, with the Bumpkin’s popular hog roast, and the Chicken Strip’s chips going down well. The Tewin Country Wedding Bar kept us going in the heat, along with Frank’s Ice Cream vans!
We were pleased to welcome back the Monday Mojos Band and, this year, Off Broadway Travel in Welwyn sponsored the Steel Pan Band ‘Steel Pan in Motion’ which brought another ‘flavour’ to the show.
We are a small Committee and without our loyal volunteers, on the day and in the run up, the show wouldn’t happen. So, an enormous thank you to everyone who volunteered to be part of our team.
See our Classic Car & Craft Show page for a full report.
Date for your diary: Tewin Classic Car and Craft Show 16th August 2026.
On 18th December we held our annual Carols Around the Christmas Tree on Lower Green. Unfortunately the weather was not kind to us so the event was moved into the Tewin Cowper School Hall. Our brass band was excellent and encouraged us to sing out loud and proud! A goodly amount of mince pies and mulled wine was consumed! The proceeds were donated to the school.
I do hope that those of you who came along, enjoyed a happy festive evening with friends and neighbours. It’s a lovely way to round off the Friends of Tewin’s year of events.
