Tewin is now part of an East Herts District initiative called the East Herts Dementia Friendly Action group, which is made up of over thirty organisations across the district. EHDC has been awarded the Dementia Friendly Status by the Alzheimer’s Society for the last two consecutive years.
Within Tewin we now have several people who have attended a Dementia Friendly training session and we are linked to the EHDC action group.
Our Over -50s group, which meets on Thursday afternoons at the Memorial Hall, and the Knit and Natter group that meets on Monday mornings in the Rose and Crown pub have leaders/co-ordinators who are dementia friendly trained.
Our local GP surgeries are aware of these groups in Tewin which have activities to benefit people living with dementia and their carers.
The intention was to hold memory sessions as well but these were put on hold by the Covid epidemic.
