Welcome to 'Screen On The Green' Tewin.

On Monday 15th April we are showing “Jean de Florette“ (1986), acclaimed classic French movie.

Based on the novel by Marcel Pagnol and directed by Claude Berri, it stars Gerard Depardieu, Daniel Auteuil and Yves Montand in his last great role.  Set in beautiful rural Provence in the 1920s it is an easy watch, telling the story of a bitter feud between French farmers.

At the time it was made, President Mitterand promoted this type of film through increased funding for the ailing French film industry.  Jean de Florette won many awards in the 1988 BAFTAs including Best Film and Best Actor.

Some of you may remember seeing it in 2016 but it was very popular so we thought it was worth showing again.  The sequel Manon des Sources will be shown in the Autumn.

French with sub titiles - it's a "must" for foreign film lovers.
