Run by the village for the village
Tewin Stores has recently celebrated its 4th birthday as a community shop. Four years ago, we were in the forefront of a new trend which has seen the number of community shops in the country expand considerably.
Our Manager, Bev Barraclough, has been with us for just over two years now, and we have benefitted considerably from her retail experience. She has initiated a number of changes which have enabled the shop to offer a wide range of goods and services.
We are now selling Fresh Home Baked Bread, rolls, croissants, sausage rolls and many other savouries. These will be cooked on the premises which mean the shop will once again have the lovely smell that goes with fresh bread. All these items can be pre-ordered, especially for the weekend in advance, with any other shopping you may need. Tewin stores was once a bakery - see the History of Tewin book available also in the shop £25.
To house the new bakery oven we are changing the lay out of the back rooms. The gallery will now become the new kitchen with the middle room being the office. You will still be able to use the computer. Any gallery items now are housed in the shop.
Easter is the time the shop café hopes to open more, especially at weekends but is does rely on volunteers so please check dates and times either here or on the shop door . Any one willing to help, please contact Bev the manager.
In addition to selling kitchen staples and essentials, Tewin Stores has a range of gluten free products - quiches and tarts, savoury pies, gorgeous flans and cakes. These are made in Tewin, and as often as possible, products are sourced locally. Our range is constantly changing, so come and treat yourself.
Apart from our Manager, Bev and our Postmaster Roger Temple, the shop is run by a large number of volunteers who work shifts of 2 - 4 hours weekly. It is always fun and a good way to meet other villagers. Regular coffee mornings are run where volunteers can get together and iron out any problems, and a few times a year we enjoy a night out at one of the local pubs. If you are interested in joining us, please enquire at the shop.
