Run by the village for the village
Tewin Stores has recently celebrated its 3rd birthday as a community shop. Three years ago, we were in the forefront of a new trend which has seen the number of community shops in the country expand considerably.
Our Manager, Bev Barraclough, has been with us for just over a year now, and we have benefitted considerably from her retail experience. She has initiated a number of changes which have enabled the shop to offer a wide range of goods and services.
Have you seen our new look? On the outside, a new awning and racking for fresh fruit, vegetables, plants and shrubs gives a colourful, attractive and welcoming look to the shop. On the inside, more space has been created and tables and chairs installed so that customers can enjoy breakfasts, sandwiches, cakes and drinks in a friendly environment. Our tea garden is still an enjoyable place to while away some time over refreshments, particularly in sunny weather.
In addition to selling kitchen staples and essentials, Tewin Stores has recently stocked an expanding range of gluten free products. The range started with quiches and tarts and now stocks savoury pies and gorgeous flans and cakes. These are made in Tewin, and as often as possible, products are sourced locally. Our range is constantly changing, so come and treat yourself.
Apart from our Manager, Bev and our Postmaster Roger Temple, the shop is run by a large range of volunteers who work shifts of 2 - 4 hours weekly. It is always fun and a good way to meet other villagers. Regular coffee mornings are run where volunteers can get together and iron out any problems, and a few times a year we enjoy a night out at one of the local pubs. If you are interested in joining us, please enquire at the shop.
