BR proposed acceptance of the minutes and this was seconded by PA.

 

3. Matters arising

3.1 TC is still waiting for  a reply from John Barton and does not now expect to receive one.

3.2 TC still has to try to sell the military uniform.                                      TC

3.3 PB still has to find somewhere to sell the scales.                           PB

3.4 TC to speak to MH about lights and badminton.                               TC

3.5 PAT testing would cost £27 plus £4 per item if undertaken by Mill Green. RF will contact  a friend about their policy on PAT testing.                             RF

                       

4. Chairman’s Report
4.1 The fete had been very successful. It had been marred at the end by the well cover being hit by the man collecting the tables. The Parish Council have made contact and he has agreed to pay for the damage.

 

5.  Treasurer’s Report
5.1 PB has received gift aid from the inland revenue.

5.2 PB has received an offer from Standard Life to buy shares. PB did not advise the committee to do so.

5.3 The takings from the fete were £5211 compared with 2005 when they were £5420.

The net profit should be £4424 which compares with £4182 in 2005. however PB still has £370 to collect and about £500 expenses still to be claimed.

 

5.2  Supporters’ Club 
PB has not received any completed membership forms.

                                               

6.Sub-Committee Reports

6.1      Fabric Committee

6.1.1 RF is to obtain a price for  fan for Janes bathroom.                     RF

6.1.2 RF has fitted a new toilet system in Janes flat.

6.1.3 A new union flag is needed, BR bought the previous one and will find prices.

6.1.4 It was confirmed that there are no hanging baskets due to the problem of watering them.

6.1.5 RF had moved the filing cabinet in the St Andrews room as Tewin Tots wanted to store some items in  a locked cupboard. As this is needed for Hall documentation RF will enquire about the cost of a second hand cabinet.                RF

6.1.6 PH had donated a fridge and this is now used by Tewin Tots.

6.1.7 RF has put the framed certificates up and these had been admired.

6.1.8 The guttering has been knocked again, RF will resolve.             RF

6.1.9 RF will put a light at the back of the stage which will be activated by a sensor mechanism.                                                                                           RF

6.1.10 RF and TC will obtain a quote to replace the fire door on the stage.

6.1.11 LC was concerned about access to the plug socket in the bar area, RF will investigate.                                                                                            RF

6.1.12 KSP has been talking to Ted Tyler about the gates. TT will give the quote to VW. There is a firm in Codicote who can make them.  There was discussion about the importance of the posts to support the gates so that they are safe for children.

6.1.13 There is still a leak in the St Andrews room roof. RF will obtain a quote. Ideally the work should be undertaken in the summer whilst the children are not using the Hall.                                                                                       RF

 

6.2   Health & Safety

PB has received a quote for testing the fire alarm - £80 a visit plus VAT. PB thought that we may need a fire certificate by the autumn, RF will check.            RF

6.3   Decorating Committee

There was nothing to report.

           

6.4  Fund Raising Committee

6.4.1 TC and PH will run the bar at the barn dance on 15th July. The licence has been obtained.

6.4.2 When the Hall received the fete equipment from Digswell it also received an annual booking from Panshanger to borrow some. This has been lent out and a donation will be made.

 

 

 

7.Group Reports

7.1  Under Fives

There was nothing to report.

 

7.2  Parish Council

There was nothing to report.

 

7.3  Friends of Tewin

7.3.1 The barn dance tickets are selling well.

7.3.2 A request was made to borrow 80 plastic chairs and this was agreed.

7.3.3 Notices have gone out about the scarecrow weekend.

 

7.4  The Tewin Society

There will be a meeting on 24th July with a speaker talking about the East of England plan.

 

7.5  THACS

There was nothing to report.

 

8. Any Other Business

8.1 The Hall has received its first wedding booking as a result of the website. It was suggested that the website be promoted, possible a box by the tennis courts and on the church             notice board.

8.2 LC offered some doors to use as trestle table tops. It was felt that the H

all had enough as they had recently been given some.
