FRIENDS OF TEWIN CHAIRMAN'S REPORT 2011
Our financial year starts in January but it is February when we hold our AGM. The serving members on the committee agreed to stay on for another year but Brenda Barbour also joined us. We did have a new President, Ben Roberts, who is still on the committee but to whom we felt we wanted to extend our extra thanks.
Also in February is our annual Senior Citizens Lunch. Approx 90 people had lunch, some being taken directly to their homes. They were entertained by our usual quiz and local musicians.
May the children from Tewin Cowper School danced around the Maypole on the Lower Green.
July a day trip to Brighton was organized. It was also the year of our Bi-Annual Barn Dance held at Muspatts Farm.
August was the popular `Classic Car Show `.
October a Tea Party was held for all the residents of Tewin. The children came and sang for us.
December brings us to the `Carols around the Tree`. Despite the snowy weather again, Santa came and handed out sweeties to the children and we had solo singing from the Brownies and Rainbows and this year the children from the school. Our professional musicians added the extra touch to the singing.
During the year we have:
Helped the Village Hall run two Book Sales, manned the gates at the Village Fete and run a stall.
Planted a tree on the green in memory of our first President, Don Southgate.
Donated £1200 towards the refurbishment of the Pavilion.
Bought a new coffee machine for Tewin Village Shop.
Bought the paint for the refurbishment of the Bus Shelter.
Laid a wreath at St. Peter’s Church on Remembrance Sunday.
Please come along to our AGM at 8pm on the 8th of February 2011 in the Parish Room, Tewin Memorial Hall to hear a fuller report.
