Tewin Horticultural Arts & Crafts Society

Due to the enthusiasm of gardeners and artists of all kinds in Tewin, and the momentum following the Millennium Fund activities which included Open Gardens and a trip to the RHS gardens at Wisley, a new Society THACS was formed in 2001. This encourages residents to take part in annual shows which cover horticulture, photography, arts & crafts, culinary and children's classes, and broadens the scope of a purely horticultural society.

The society has attracted over a hundred and fifty members and many successful events have taken place. Numerous visits, Spring and Autumn Shows, exhibitions, open gardens, talks and workshops have been arranged since its inauguration and a special 'Year of Gardening' day was celebrated in 2004 to support the 200th anniversary of the Royal Horticultural Society with which THACS  is affiliated.

In 2004, to mark the RHS "Year of Gardening" THACS ran a project for local primary school children in which they were asked to grow Sunflowers in different growing media and record the results. Eight  children each produced a log of their observations and they are displayed at Sunflowers  have a look  they are excellent.
