ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

MONDAY 15th FEBRUARY 2010 AT 8PM IN TEWIN MEMORIAL HALL

REPORT OF THE CHAIRMAN

Firstly, please accept my apologies for not getting this report out to you earlier but the recent snow has not helped the many deliveries of notices we help to put through your door during the year.  We always need more people to help, so if you have some spare time to deliver locally, please let me know.

The snow didn't hamper the folks attending the Carols around the Christmas Tree in 2009 and although it was cold and wet, everyone agreed it added a wonderful magical feel to the evening.

We held our 2009 AGM at the beginning of February with the committee agreeing to continue with Don Southgate as our President.

The Senior Citizens Lunch was attended by 80 people but several more meals were delivered to homes in Tewin.

Brenda Barber asked to join the committee and this was agreed.

We were able to bring the Maypole Dance back onto Lower Green with the help of Tewin Cowper School.

Our first day out to Southend in July was a success.

The Classic Car Show has become an annual event and the number of cars present was up from 2008.  In 2009 we also included stalls of craft, food and charity.  Morris Men and Majorettes entertained us.

In October we had our Tea Party which was extended to all residents in Tewin regardless of age. The children from the school entertained us.

December brought us back to Carols around the Tree.

During the year we have helped the Tewin Memorial Hall organise two Book Sales as well as manning the gates for the Fete and running our Hook-a-Duck game.

The game was used again at the St. Peter’s Church Harvest Weekend.

A large amount of crockery was donated to us.

We presented a cup to the Tennis Club for their annual Tennis awards and l had the honour of presenting them.

We gave the Parish Council £200 towards the refurbishment of the Telephone Box and also helped to update the Audio System at the hall financially.

The year came to a close with the death of our President Don Southgate.  He will be sadly missed by us all for his knowledge of all Tewin matters and his lively wit.  We also sent out several other condolence cards.

We hope to see you at this year’s AGM on the 15th February 2010, Kimberley Room, Tewin Memorial Hall.
